Considering that, let’s take a look at some of the bad photography advice you need to avoid.

You can simply photoshop bad images later 

This is one of the pieces of advice that we are seeing flood the Internet more and more regularly. As photo-editing software becomes increasingly advanced, a lot of people assume that they can use it to get them out of trouble whenever they take a bad photograph. This makes people think that the art of taking a good photograph really isn’t significant anymore. However, this could not be further from the truth. Yes, you can tweak things with Photoshop, but you cannot turn a bad photograph into a good one. It is not a miracle-worker! Plus, the truly beautiful photographs or those that capture a moment in time. They don’t need to be changed or considerably edited.

You shouldn’t look at other people’s photographs 

Looking at other people’s photographs on online photo sharing sites does not mean copying their ideas and their work. It is simply about getting inspiration and learning about different angles, lighting, and perspective. 

You need expensive equipment to be a photographer 

Another mistake that we see a lot of people make is spending an absolute fortune on photography equipment. Many people believe that they need to have the most expensive equipment. However, being the most expensive does not mean that it is the best. Yes, you need good and proficient equipment, but this does not have to translate to an expensive purchase. Instead, you should take the time to do some digging online and read reviews that have been left by others to determine the best piece of equipment for your niche and use. 

You are either born with it or not 

Another common mistake that we see is a lot of people just give up because they’re not great straight away. However, practice really does make perfect. It is not a case of you are either born with it or you’re not. Therefore, you need to keep honing your skills and figure out the improvements you can make. You know what they say; small but steady wins the race when it comes to photography. 

So there you have it: some of the bad pieces of photography advice that we have seen. Don’t believe everything that you read or hear when it comes to mastering your craft. There is no magic formula and we all go on different paths, so do not let anyone try to dishearten you or take you away from your passion. Simply learn all that you can about your equipment, lighting and angles, and you’re sure to improve your photographs.
